Root Canal
What is Root Canal?
A root canal is a dental treatment used to save a tooth that is badly decayed, infected, or damaged. It involves removing the infected or dead pulp (the soft tissue inside the tooth), cleaning the inside of the tooth, and then filling and sealing it to prevent further infection.
In simple terms:
It treats the inside of a tooth.
The procedure removes infection from the root canals (the natural cavities within the tooth).
After a root canal, the tooth can stay in your mouth and function like a normal tooth.
Why it's needed:
Deep tooth decay
A cracked or chipped tooth
A tooth that has had many procedures
Trauma to the tooth (even without visible cracks)
